Energy Bars For Dogs?
My best product find of 2013 is Yaff Bars, a brand of energy bars that are safe for both humans and dogs to share.
I am an active person and my little dog, Freddie is my constant companion.
Though he is young, healthy and active, as a small dog Freddie has a special set of dietary needs that I must keep in mind as I take him on long hiking trips or runs in the park.
Therefore, I am always on the lookout for healthy dog treats and snacks that can help him maintain his energy level during our training workouts.
Why I Chose Yaff Bars
A few weeks ago I was happily surfing Facebook when a small advertisement for an energy bar called a “Yaff Bar” caught my attention. What peaked my curiosity about this advertisement was the claim that this brand of energy bars is created to be safe and healthy for both dogs and humans.
My discovery of Yaff Bars could not have come at a better time since that was right around the time when I signed up for MoonWalk NYC, a power walking marathon sponsored by the Walk The Walk charity which helps raise money for breast cancer research.

Of course, this marathon, like any other marathon, requires a great deal of training which means that Freddie and I will be spending a lot of time walking and running in the park.
With this in mind, I contacted Mud and Wyeth for a sample product to review. Being the cool company that they are, just a few days later I got 3 sample Yaff Bars, one of each flavor available, in my mailbox! I received a:
- Banana Peanut Butter: 240 calories, made with peanut butter and organic bananas
- Honey Almond Cranberry: 240 calories, made with honey, almond butter and cranberries
- Blueberry Carob: 240 calories, made with peanut butter, blueberries and carob chips
My favorite flavor is honey almond cranberry but Freddie LOVES the banana peanut butter bar.
What Makes Yaff Bars So Healthy?
Yaff bars are hand baked with wholesome and healthy ingredients that are safe for both humans and dogs.
This means that unlike other protein bars that contain chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar alcohols, raisins, and other foods that are toxic to dogs Yaff bars contain healthy ingredients such as organic bananas, peanut butter, honey, and carob powder (dog-safe chocolate substitute) which are safe for dogs to eat and perfectly healthy for humans.
Best of all, Yaff bars are wheat, dairy, caffeine and refined sugar free…and we can all use less refined sugar in our diets regardless of whether we have 2 or 4 legs.
