FitDeck Senior is the newest addition to the FitDeck Exercise Playing Cards series. With well over 80 balance, strength and flexibility exercises, this innovative new product is fast becoming a favorite among active seniors.
What is FitDeck?
FitDeck is unlike any other piece of fitness equipment on the market today. This unique set of 56 playing cards is designed to make exercise fun for people of all ages and fitness levels. Each card contains illustrations and instructions for a movement, stretch or exercise that can be mixed and matched to keep the routines fresh, challenging and exciting.
Why FitDeck Senior?
Due to advances in medical technology and an increased focus on healthy living practices such as not smoking, today’s seniors will live an estimated 15 years longer than their grandparents.
Armed with this knowledge, these seniors are demanding to find ways to improve their quality of life during their extended golden years. And of course, medical professionals, fitness professionals and well-informed members of society all agree that the best way to help seniors stay healthy and happy during their twilight years is by helping them stay fit and active.
However, despite the high demand for senior-friendly fitness routines and fitness equipment, the sad reality is that most health clubs and fitness equipment are not designed to be safe and effective for use by individuals between the ages of 65 to 85+. Likewise, the limited number of health clubs and personal trainers who do cater to this segment of our population charge outrageous fees that most senior citizens, who are on fixed incomes, can not afford.
Seeing the demand for senior-friendly, fun, safe, effective and affordable fitness routines Phil Black, a former Navy Seal and inventor of FitDeck Exercise Playing Cards launched his FitDeck Senior series. Now, for just $16.95, seniors can purchase a complete fitness routine designed especially for them.
What Makes FitDeck Senior Unique?
FitDeck Senior is in many ways similar to other FitDeck titles. But, what sets it apart are the key features tailored especially for seniors. For example, FitDeck Senior cards are larger in size than other FitDeck titles in order to accommodate the larger font. This larger font will allow seniors to refer to these cards during their workout session without the need to switch to reading glasses.
But most importantly, what sets FitDeck Senior apart from other FitDeck titles is the fact that a lot of thought and effort has gone into designing these exercises with the senior population’s physical limitations in mind. For example, doctors highly recommend that seniors incorporate some form of resistance training into their fitness routines. However, due to a series of common health problems such as osteoporosis and hypertension seniors are warned to stay away from heavy weights and most weight training fitness equipment.
So, in order to bypass these health issues and still provide seniors with a fun, safe and effective workout FitDeck Senior is designed to use nothing more than the individual’s own body weight. Now, to the more fit seniors this may sound slightly limiting. And that is the reason why Phil Black designed all of the exercises listed in the FitDeck Senior edition to be easily modifiable. More fit seniors, who wish to use slightly more resistance than just their own body weight during their workouts, can easily and safely perform all of the listed exercises using resistance bands.
The following video demonstrates just one of the 80 exercises featured in the FitDeck Senior edition. Notice just how easily this exercise can be performed with or without the use of light weights or resistance bands.
