Juicing, on a daily basis, is one of the healthiest habits you can instill within your family. Unfortunately, some people shy away from juicing because of the fear of carbohydrates. However, its important to realize that even though fruit juices often do contain a high amount of carbohydrates, the type of low glycemic carbohydrates and natural sugars present in fruit juices are easily and efficiently turned into energy by our bodies. Furthermore, fruit juices tend to hydrate our bodies naturally and also provide us with a wide array of vitamins and minerals that are vital to good health.

Another reason why some people shy away from juicing, on a daily basis, is because of the perceived time restraints. For those families, whose schedules are already jam-packed, daily juicing, if not planned out properly, is not a practical ritual. However, if planned out properly, daily juicing will pose virtually no time restraint on your busy schedule.

The following tips will help you incorporate juicing into your busy schedules:

  • Turn a section of your kitchen into your designated juicing area. Keep all of your juicing tools, such as your cutting boards, favorite cups, bowls, peelers, knives and juicer, in this part of your kitchen. Keeping all of your juicing equipment centrally located will make your daily juicing much more efficient.
  • Keep a toothbrush or coarse brush handy to clean the strainer after juicing. Scrubbing the strainer after every juicing session will displace any lodged fruit particles which can grow rapidly into mold. Thorough, regular cleaning of your juicer will increase the life of your juicer as well as help keep you healthy.
  • Find a juicing buddy. This juicing buddy can be a family member, friend or co-worker that you can talk to about your juicing and healthy living plans. Talk with this person on a daily or weekly basis in order to help keep each other accountable and give each other juicing ideas.
  • Do your homework when it comes to buying a juicer. Make sure that you purchase a quality juicer that will last you for a long time and suit all of your juicing needs.
  • Watch how many calories the fruits and vegetables you juice contain in order to make sure that you do not exceed your overall daily calorie needs and begin to gain weight which will in turn defeat the purpose of your new healthy habit.

    This great! I thought about getting a juicer but I started making smoothies and discovered that it’s much better to do that because the skins of most fruits contain loads of different vitamins and minerals and the protein keeps me going through the toughest workouts. I’m not sure about measurements because I kind of do it all by eye but here’s my recipe;

    Maybe 1/2 a cup Chobani (or your favorite brand) vanilla ice cream
    3 Sliced Strawberries
    Black and red raspberries- 4 each
    6-10 Blueberries
    Maybe 1/4 cup of milk
    Ice

    Blend to perfection!
