Pilates and Weight Loss
Pilates exercises can only prevent the formation of “bat wings”. Once formed, “bat wings” cannot be undone through Pilates exercises.
One unfortunate side effect of rapid weight gain and weight loss, or what is commonly referred to as yo-yo dieting, is the dreaded “bat wings” that loose upper arm skin which sags, like bat wings ready for flight, when you spread your arms.
Exercise, or Pilates style weight training to be specific, is the most effect way of preventing your skin from sagging during weight loss.
Younger individuals who have not engaged in yo-yo dieting and those individuals who have not been significantly overweight…100+ pounds overweight…have a better change of preventing the formation of bat wings through exercise.
- Unfortunately, too often women neglect to workout their arms and upper bodies mainly due to a fear of “bulking up”.
- Liposuction and Brachioplasty, an expensive arm lift procedure, are the only two options available to individuals with the dreaded “bat wings”. Both procedure, unfortunately, will leave you with unsightly scars.
- So, as you can see establishing healthy eating habits, maintaining your weight and incorporating Pilates into your workout routines is the only certain way of preventing “bat wings” from forming.
- The following video is a prime example of a Pilates workout routine you can incorporate into your daily workout to help tone and define your upper arms and shoulders without causing you to “bulk up”.
