Yoga For Fit Kids

It is never too early to start incorporating fitness into your child’s daily routine. Yoga is a safe and fun way to introduce your child to a lifetime of fitness. Children as young as five years old can be taught simple yoga workouts, stretches and meditations that they can build upon as they grow up.

Incorporating yoga into your family’s daily workout routine can help all of you become more fit, flexible and relaxed. That is because yoga is far more than just an exercise routine. It is a way for the mind to take some “timeout” and de-stress.

Marsha Wenig, a yoga instructor and author believes that, “doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface”.

The Health Benefits of Yoga for Kids

A series of new studies have shown that yoga is especially beneficial to children who seem to pick up on the natural rhythm of yogic postures and movements with greater ease than adults. Other studies have shown that yoga and regular deep relaxation techniques can help improve children’s concentration and school performance so much so that today many school districts are adapting innovative new yoga programs in an effort to limit behavior problems and improve overall student performance.
