Break Your Workout Routine
You are not a hamster! So why workout like one?
The phrase “Variety is the spice of life” also applies to your workouts. Variety is what keeps your workouts interesting. And interesting workouts are what keep you going back to the gym day after day.
So, don’t neglect to spice up your workouts by attending a new fitness class, or learning to use an unfamiliar piece of fitness equipment.
Find An Event To Train For
Finding an event to train for is a great way to set a deadline for your fitness goals as well as give yourself a reason to workout on a consistent basis.
The instant you mail in your entry forms for the event of your choice you give your workout plans a whole new sense of purpose and a jumpstart in the right direction.
And the feeling of accomplishment you get once you complete your event will stay with you for a long time and provide you with the fuel you need to workout for the rest of your life.
Find A Workout Buddy
One of the best ways to spice up your workouts is to workout with a friend. It is a scientifically proven fact that those who workout with a friend workout for a longer period of time and on a more consistent basis.
But, of course, most of us know that it doesn’t take a scientific study to tell us that working out with a friend is more fun than working out alone, especially if you are working out at home or in the outdoors.
But most importantly, a good workout buddy can be an amazing source of motivation and inspiration.
Join An Online Fitness Community
Online fitness communities are an invaluable asset for those of us who workout at home.
Those of us who workout at home don’t always have the support and social interaction that comes with attending a gym. These Online fitness communities can serve as somewhere to go to vent, rest or get advice about a difficult situation such as a diet plateau.
These massive support groups are meant to provide us with the support, social interaction and inspiration we all need to keep working out and eating right when life tries to derail our efforts.
Wear The Right Fitness Attire
Whenever I find myself in a workout rut and dreading the prospect of going to the gym, I take a couple of days off and go shopping for a new piece of fitness attire. Just owning a new sports bra or a set of new weight lifting gloves, gets me all fired up to workout again.
If you are new to fitness, “dressing the part” can make a world of difference regarding how motivated you are to keep working out. That’s because “dressing the part” is a powerful psychological tool that can help put you in the right frame of mind to workout.
Think about it this way: If you go to the gym everyday in the same old pair of sweat pants and worn-out t-shirt eventually you are going to get tired of wearing this frumpy outfit and start dreading going to the gym. But, if you invest in a few pieces of cute workout attire that can be mixed and matched to create a number of flattering outfits won’t that help brighten the prospect of going to the gym a bit more?
Read Success Stories
When I first started my weight loss journey I craved to know how others had succeeded. So, I spent a great deal of my free time reading success stories and thinking, “If she can do it so can I!”. Looking back at it now, I realize that I was receiving practical advice as well as a number of extremely positive and inspirational messages by reading these success stories.
Of course, by “success stories” I don’t mean those before and after stories that show an overweight woman turning into a fitness model in a matter of weeks by following the newest Internet-sensation fad diet.
No! I was searching for real before and after stories that portrayed everyday women losing a great deal of weight, cleaning up their diets and learning to exercise again while still being able to manage their homes, kids, careers and social lives.
