We all know the saying, “Dieting is about calories in and calories out”. But, burning calories does not have to be a chore nor does it require constant trips to the gym. Here are 5 ways to torch 200 calories from your “calories in”.
Clean Up
Straightening up your living area is a great way to turn up your heart rate and burn calories. 23 minutes of high intensity cleaning is all you need to burn 200 calories. Get creative and move with purpose.
Go For a Swim
Beat the summer heat and go to your local swimming pool. 27 minutes of wading in the water will do the trick. Just remember to pack the sun block SPF 15
Play With Your Kids
16 minutes of running around the yard, friendly wrestling, and other great activities with your kids is a perfect way to get the blood flowing and spending time with the most important people in your life.
Go Grocery Shopping
Pushing the cart around the store for almost 43 minutes is just the start. If you can manage to carry your own bags to your car, into the house, and put the food away you can add another 200 calories or more to your daily total!
Go Bowling
44 minutes of bowling with family and friends is another great way to burn calories and have fun at the same time. A 49 minute game can scorch 200 calories.
There are literally dozens of other ideas to get exercise without going to the gym. You can make even the most mundane activities fun and a little more exciting by doing them with more oomph. The point is, just do it!

Thanks for sharing Paulin! Maybe we can keep adding other fun activities for burning calories to this list in the comments.
For example: Retweeting this post while running in place can burn around 10 calories
Thanks again for everything and we hope to contribute again really soon!
LOL This is a great idea Ernesto
You can burn another 10 calories "Liking" this post while running in place…
Sorry, but I'm a little confused as far as the cleaning goes. I clean one house plus my own every week and 3 houses every two weeks. Each takes me 5 hours to clean. I cannot see where the 200 calories per 23 minutes went. From what I can see, I still have them around my middle. LOL!
God Bless!

Hi Patti
Welcome back!
LOL..PJ, I know what you're saying. I'm not talking about your average "going through the motions" cleaning. I'm talking about cleaning where all of your movements are exaggerated and done at such as pace that your heart rate jumps through the roof.
I agree Ernesto
If you don't raise your heart rate you wont burn enough calories, or boost your metabolism enough to lose weight.
is I wear a set of ankle and wrist weights. It looks funny
but it really helps bring up that heart rate!
PJ, what I do when I have to clean the house (not one of my favorite chores
These weights will also add a slight weight training element to the cardio routine you just ordered. Let me know if you're interested and I will tell you which weights I have. They are super comfy! I love them
Funnily enough, because you do it pretty much every day, your body has learned to adjust and your metabolism has shifted to accommodate the exercise. Simply put, your body is bored. You see, we’re not meant to lose weight. So when someone says, “My body is against me!” it’s not just a joke, it’s absolutely true! Contrary to our conscious mind, our subconscious mind goes into panic mode when we begin to lose weight. It takes a little while for it to react and shift everything around so your stop losing weight, but this is why you plateau. I worked on a farm doing 12-14 hour shifts 5 days a week and I actually started to gain weight. Honestly, though, I just cut back my calories without depriving myself and did some cardio/yoga/cross training and the weight came off pretty easily.
I have been using a journal as a calorie counter but sometimes that gets hard. I found this website on http://www.fitclick.com that offers a free calorie counter that is so easy to use and helps to keep you motivated.
Hi Lily, Thx for sharing this website…
